About me

I’m Captain Gregory Pelt, founder of Pelt’s Yachting Services Inc. Based in Sidney, British Columbia, I bring more than 30 years of professional experience aboard motor and sailing yachts as a captain, engineer, mate and delivery skipper.

 

My work has taken me through the Pacific Northwest, along both North American coasts, and throughout the Bahamas, Caribbean and Mediterranean. My sea time includes three Atlantic crossings and multiple transits of the Panama Canal.

 

Today, I help owners with coastal and offshore yacht deliveries, private and charter captain services, refit oversight, commissioning and passage preparation. My background combines vessel operation with hands-on mechanical, electrical and navigation systems work, at sea and in the yard.

 

My approach is straightforward: prepare the vessel carefully, plan around the weather, manage the crew’s workload and keep the owner informed. Each job should finish with a well-looked-after boat and an organized handover. Owner familiarization and training are available by prior agreement.

 

Alongside the yacht work, I photograph coastal life and publish marine logbooks, photography notebooks and original stories through Pelt Creative Press. The books draw on the routines, places and experiences of a working life on the water.
